Explanation:

Remember here, m1 > m2

For mass m2, the forces are given as

T - m_{2} g = m_{2} a ..........(1)

Similarly, for mass m1, the forces are given as\

m_{1} g - T = m_{1} a ............(2)

From equation (1), we have

T = m_{2} g + m_{2}a ..........(3)

Substituting equation (3) in (2) we get

(m_{1} - m_{2})g = (m_{1} + m_{2})a\\  a = (m_{1} - m_{2})g/(m_{1} + m_{2}).........(Acceleration)\\T = m_{2}(m_{1} - m_{2})g/(m_{1} + m_{2}) + m_{2}g\\T = g(2m_{1}m_{2})/(m_{1} + m_{2})...............(Tension)
