Answer:

Let the present age of son = x

Two years ago, age of son = x - 2

Two years ago, age of father = 3(x - 2)

So, the present age of Father = 3(x - 2) + 2 = 3x - 6 + 2 = 3x - 4

Two years hence, age of father =3x - 4 + 2 = 3x - 2

Two years hence , age of son = x + 2

According to question,

5(x + 2) =2(3x - 2)

=> 5x + 10= 6x - 4

=> 10 + 4 = 6x - 5x

=> 14 = x

So, the present age of son = x = 14 years

And the present age of father = 3x - 4 = 3 * 14 - 4 = 42 - 4 = 38 years
