b) A farmer and a merchant came to the judge — farmer said he had given
a piece of gold to merchant for safe keeping – now merchant refuses
to give back-
"Is it true?" the judge asked the merchant- the man paused — then
he handed his walking stick to the farmer — he raised his eyes up to the
heavens and said, "As God is my witness, I have given the gold back to
the farmer- The farmer was puzzled and was giving the stick back to
the merchant - "Stop!" said the judge to the farmer — "Take it away, and
break it when you are safely home." — disappointed — to be awarded a
stick in place of gold! - reached home - broke the stick – found his
piece of gold.​
