Given :   identity (a + b) ² =a²+2ab +b²  

To Find : Verify the identity with illustration by paper cutting

taking a=5cm and b=3 cm​

Solution:

Take a Square sheet  of 8 cm  x 8  cm  

From Top right corner cut  a square of 5 x 5 cm

From Left bottom corner cut a square  3  x 3  cm

Check Other two Pieces which are of 5 x 3  cm

and 3 x 5  cm  

Hence we  got   5 x 5  + 5 x 3  + 3 x 5  + 3 x 3

= 5² +  5 x 3  + 5 x 3  + 3²

= 5² + 2 * 5 * 3  + 3²

= a²  + 2ab + b²

Square sheet  of 8 cm  x 8  cm  

= 8²

= ( 5 + 3)²

= ( a + b)²

( a + b)²  =  a²  + 2ab + b²
