a)3+(8+19)=(3+8)+19

3+27=11+19

30=30

b)13+(23+41)=(13+23)+41

13+64=36+41

77=77

Hence, verified.

Answer:

(a) LHS = a+(b+c)

= 3+(8+9)

= 3+(17)

= 20

RHS = (a+b)+c

= (3+8)+9

= (11)+9

= 20

The property used in this part is distributivity property .

(b) LHS = a+(b+c)

= 13+(23+41)

= 13+(64)

= 77

RHS = (a+b)+c

= (13+23)+41

= (36)+41

= 77

In this part also distributivity property is used .
