2: Buoyancy is the tendency of an object to float in a fluid. All liquids and gases in the presence of gravity exert an upward force known as the buoyant force on any object immersed in them. Buoyancy results from the differences in pressure acting on opposite sides of an object immersed in a static fluid.

Q-3: 0.25 is the new force

Buoyancy:

  • It is a force exerted by a fluid on a body when the body is immersed in it such that it tends to bring the body towards the surface of the fluid.

Gravitational Force Question:

  • Initial force = 1 N.

So, we can say:

F =  \dfrac{G {m}^{2} }{ {d}^{2} } = 1N

Now, distance is made half (i.e. d/2):

So, new force will be :

F_{new}=  \dfrac{G {m}^{2} }{ {(d/2)}^{2} }

 \implies F_{new}=  \dfrac{4G {m}^{2} }{ {d}^{2} }

 \implies F_{new}=  4 \times \dfrac{G {m}^{2} }{ {d}^{2} }

 \implies F_{new}=  4 \times 1

 \implies F_{new}=  4 N

So, new force is 4 N.
