When the person is able to see nearby objects and cannot see distinct objects, then the defect caused is myopia.

causes are-

  1. excessive curvature of eye lens.
  2. elongation of eyeball.

Myopia can be corrected using a concave lens.

myopia is a defect of human eye in which the far point of a person comes nearer than infinity.

the person can see near objects clearly but can't see distant objects properly.  

this defect is caused by:-

(I) excessive curvature of the eye lens{lens becomes thick}

(ii) elongation of eyeball

This defect can be treated by using a CONCAVE LENS of suitable power
