If the leaves of a money plant are coated with oil, then stomata present on the surface of the leaf will get blocked. So, if stomata are blocked, gaseous exchange would be affected which would decrease photosynthesis. So the plant will eventually die.

Coating the epidermis of the leaf with oil or any other waxy substance will lead to blocking of stomatal pores. This blocking of stomatal boards will affect the two most important functions of the plant, which are:

1) Transpiration

2) Photosynthesis

If these processes get affected then the plant won't be able to maintain its temperature, which is regulated by the process of transpiration through water loss. Adding to that plant won't be able to produce its food because the exchange of gases will be blocked.
