Let the number be x.

 \frac{5}{4} x  =  \frac{5}{4}  + x \\  \\  =  >  \frac{5x}{4}  - x =  \frac{5}{4}  \\  \\  =  >   \frac{5x - 4x}{4}   =  \frac{5}{4}  \\  \\  =  >   \frac{x}{4}  =  \frac{5}{4}  \\  \\  =  > 4x = 20 \:  \:  \:  \:  \: [cross \: multiplication] \\  \\  =  > x =  \frac{20}{4}  \\  \\  =  > x = 5
