Nuclear membrane present around the genetic material.

ANSWER:

Option B is incorrect with respect to prokaryotic cell.

REASON:

Nuclear membrane is present around the genetic material in case of eukaryotic cell

PROKARYOTIC CELL:

  • The cells which do not have well defined nucleus are called prokaryotic cells .

  • They do not have membrane bound cell organelles.

  • The genetic material of prokaryotic cells are concentrated in the centre of the cell as nucleoid.

  • Nuclear membrane is not present around them.

  • These cells have cell wall, cell membrane , locomotory structures and ribosomes.

  • The locomotory structures may be cilia or flagella.

  • Ribosomes are of 70 s type and are not bounded by any membrane.

  • Some prokaryotes have infolding of plasma membrane forming a structure called mesosome.

  • Mesosome helps in secretion, respiration and DNA replication during cell division.

  • The cell wall is present in majority of prokaryotes and they are non cellulosic in nature.

  • The prokaryotic organisms come under a seperate kingdom called Monera.

  • Example of prokaryotes are bacteria, cyano bacteria or blue green algae , mycoplasma, etc.

  • The prokaryotes show their existence in variety of habitats. They have wide range of nutritional diversity.
