Tai Ahoms were from Mong Mao Lung, Yunnan, China. They are Tai Mao/Tai Nua peoples who got admix with other ethnicities after coming to Assam. They mostly married Kachari people who were from Tibeto-Burman race. And the tribes they mostly married were Borahi-Chutia (Kha-lang) and Moran tribe people. The modern Tai Ahoms are mostly Bodo-Kachari/Kachari people and don't have Tai blood.

Ahomisation was an assimilation process in the former Ahom kingdom of Assam by which the people from different ethnic groups in the region became a part of what is now considered as the Ahom population.
