2. Leguminous plants share a symbiotic relationship with a bacterium called ‘rhizobium.’ This rhizobium resides in the root nodules of the plant. It actually converts atmospheric nitrogen into nitrogenous compounds and fixes them in soil. This makes the soil more fertile.
