2 Why is the amount of insolation received by the equatorial regions greater than that received by the polar regions?

In the equatorial regionthe sun's rays are vertical and they recieve a greater sunlight.In thepolar region the sun's rays are slanting and some say the sun never shines in the polar region. In other words the sunlight goes on decreasing as one moves from theequator to the poles
