India sits on a very important peninsula at the top of the Indian ocean has cost lin with the Arabian sea & bay of Bengal as the largest country in the region it plays an important role in security and safeguarding of the region also the island of Andaman and Nicobar serve as an outpost and checkpoint/entrance to the Indian ocean as it sits exactly above the mMlaka straight which has 60% of world trade passing through it makes it a choke point and Lakshadweep island serves as an outpost to keep hostiles of the west in check
