Well according to me, the government will surely intervene. This is because infanticide refers to the killing of the babies before they are 10 months old. This is actually refereed to as murder under the Indian Penal Code, since the right to live is being rejected. Hence if some religions practice these kind of stuff, then surely the Government of India will intervene.

The government will definitely intervene if some religious group says that their religion allows them to practice in infanticide,

REASON

No religion teaches us to kill any living being. Kindness is the root of all religions. Even the law of our country also declares that killing a human being is illegal. It is also against human rights.
