Respected Madam/Sir,

Through the medium of your esteemed daily, I want to express my views on the dangers of using headphones on roads. I have observed that the dangers of meeting with an accident increase when our attention is divided. This is a very common but unnoticed issue.

Many people who drive or walk wear headphones. They find it cool or a normal thing to do but they fail to see the adverse consequences of it. While listening to music, people may avoid outside noise, but they may even avoid any sound at all. It may happen that some vehicle comes from the other side but they are so engrossed in the music that they are unaware of it. Or while a person crosses the road, he or she may not be aware of the vehicle approaching, if they dont hear it, which can, in turn, be fatal. This can be a serious issue when an ambulance is behind us and needs a passage to go ahead but you are totally unaware of its existence. Music can alter your mood and it can have an effect on driving.

Music is a form of entertainment, it is essential and it should have its place in our lives but we can't really focus on two different tasks at the same time. Many people are unaware of this fact and they need to be aware of it. While driving, paying complete attention to the road is a must safety measure.
