Rabindranath Tagore set up an educational institution called Visva -bharti at Shantiniketan ('abode of peace') , near Calcutta. the school started with only five students and aimed to bring the learning process closer to Nature . as opposed to the strict rote learning of British schools, here creativity was encouraged.

In other schools, the classes were held into the classroom but in Shantiniketan, classes were held under the tree. They believe that students have to learn on the nap of nature. In other schools, free food and free education are not provided but in Shantiniketan free education and free food are provided
