GIVEN:- Write difference between Alvars and Nayanars.

ANSWER:- They both led a religious movements in South India during the seventh to ninth centuries.The Nayanars and Alvars were the Tamil poet- saints. They played a crucial role between the 5th to 10th centuries in propagating the Bhakti Movement in Southern India.

The Alvars were the devotees of Lord Vishnu.And the Nayanars were devotees of Lord Shiva.

While Alvars were devoted to Vishnu, Narayana were to Shiva.

• Around the 6th and 8th centuries AD, the Nayanars were active, while the Alvars  were active between the 5th and 10th centuries AD.
• Nayanars came from several castes, including mighty soldiers, Brahmins, hunters etc. Their song categories included Tevaram and Tiruvacakam.
• There were a total of around twelve Alvars in the group, all of them came from various backgrounds. Divya Prabhandam was the name of their songs.
