2. Write the characteristics of parenchyma,
3. How does simple tissue differ from complex tissue?
4. Differentiate between the various types of meristem
on the basis of position
Answers
Answer:
1. Features of parenchyma:
They form basic packing tissue.
Cells of this tissue are relatively unspecialised and may be oval, rounded or elongated in shape.
Their cell walls are thin.
These cells are living.
They show large intercellular spaces.
Cytoplasm is dense with a small nucleus.
The celss possess a large central vacuole.
Parenchyma provides support to plants and also stores food
2. IF the tissues are composed of cells which are functionally and structurally similar, then they are called SIMPLE TISSUES. IF the tissues are composed of more than one type of cell, and they work together as a unit, performing many functions, then they are called COMPLEX TISSUES.
3.Apical meristem is situated at the growing tips of stems and roots whereas lateral meristem is located beneath the bark and in vascular bundles of dicot roots and stems. Intercalary meristem, on the other hand, is found at the base of leaves or internode.
