1.Non-metals react with oxygen in the air to produce non-metal oxides

collect the ash dissolve the ash in water then dip a red litmus paper in the solution. The red litmus turns into blue color. Magnesium oxides on dissolving in water forms a basic solution called magnesium hydroxide. 2Mg+O2 →2MgO +2H2O →2Mg(OH)2 Non metallic oxides are acidic nature
