Step-by-step explanation:

2/x+3y=13 ; 5/x-4/y = -2

2/x+3y=13.....(2)

5/x-4/y = -2.....( 1)

Let 1/x = m & 1/y = n

Therefore equation (1)&(2) becomes

2m+3n=13......(3)

5m-4n =-2......(4)

Multiply by 5 on equation (3)

Multiply by 2 on equation (4)

Therefore equation (3)&(4) becomes

10m+15m=65.....(5)

10m-8n=-4..........(6)

Let (6) substract from (5)

10m+15m=65

-

10m +8n = 4.

23n = 69

n= 69÷23

n = 3

Substitute value of 'n' in equation (3)

2m+3n=13

2m+ 3×3 = 13

2m + 9 = 13

2m = 13-9

2m =4

m = 2

m=2,n=3

But 1/x = m & 1/y = n

1/x = m ; 1/y=n

1/x = 2. ; 1/y=3

x=1/2 ; y=1/3
