2x+3y=7 - EQ no 1

6x+5y=11 - EQ no 2

solving 1 and 2

eq no 1×6= 12x+18y= 42

eq no 2×2=12x+10y=22

(-).

8y=20

y=20/8

y=2.5

substitute y=2.5 in eq no 1

2x+3y= 7

2x+3×2.5=7

2x+ 7.5=7

2x =7-7.5

2x= -0.5

x=-0.5/2

x=-0.25

therefore x=-0.25 and y= 2.5

Answer:

x=8 and y=5/2

Step-by-step explanation:

2x+3y=7. (1)

6x+5y=11. (2)

from(1) =2x+3y=7

=2x=7-3y

=x=7-3y/2. (3)

therefore, substituting the value of x in eq 2 we get,

6(7-3y/2)+5y=11

6(7-3y)+10= 22

42-18y+10y=22

8y=22-42

y=20/8

y=5/2

for (3) we get

x=7-3(5/2)/2

x=7-15/2/2

x= 8

therefore x=8

and y=5/2
