Question:-

Solve the equation

2(x - 4) = 4 + 2(3x - 5)

Solution:-

2(x - 4) = 4 + 2(3x - 5)

Simplify LHS and RHS

2 \times x - 2 \times 4 = 4 + (2 \times 3x - 2 \times 5)

2x - 8 = 4 + 6x - 10

Transfer variable terms to one side and constants to other side

2x - 6x = 4 - 10 + 8

 - 4x = 2

Transport -4 to RHS

x =  \frac{2}{ - 4}

x =   - \frac{ 1}{2}
