Answer:

-2

Explanation:

2x-4/y=10

2x-4=10y......(by cross multiplication)

2(x-2)=2(5y)......(taking 2 as common)

By cancelling 2 in both sides, we get

x-2=5y

x-5y-2=0

x-5y=2 ......(i)

2x+2/y=4

2x+2=4y......(by cross multiplication)

2(x+1)=2(2y)......(taking 2 as common)

By cancelling 2 in both side, we get

x+1=2y

x-2y+1=0

x-2y= -1......(ii)

Subtracting eq (i) from (ii), we get

(x-2y)-(x-5y) = -1-(2)

x-2y-x+5y =-1-2

5y-2y= -3.......(x-x=0 , hence x is removed)

3y= -3

y=-3/3

y= -1

By putting y= -1 in eq (ii), we get

x-2(-1)= -1

x+2= -1

x= -1-2

x= -3

x-y

= -3-(-1)

= -3+1

= -2
