Step-by-step explanation:

let 1/X = a and 1/ y= b

therefore, (2a +5b = 1).......(i)

& 60a + 40 b = 10...............(ii)

now, multiply eq. (i) by 3

so it becomes 6a+15b= 3

and by simplifying eq.(ii)

it becomes, 6a+4b=1

now, subtract eq ii from I

6a + 15b = 3

6a + 4b = 1

- - -

_____________

0. + 11b = 2

or, b = 2/11

or, 1/y= 1/2/11 = 11/2

now put the value in 2/x + 5/y = 1

X = 22
