Topic: Exponential equation

Hint.

When we find the product of numbers whose bases are the same, the exponent is added.

Solution.

Given, 2^{x+7}+2^{x+5}=160.

Let t=2^{x+5}, then multiply 4 on the equation. Then 4t=2^{x+7}.

\implies 4t+t=160

\implies 5t=160

\implies t=32

Substituting t=2^{x+5} we have 2^{x+5}=2^{5}.

\implies x+5=5

\implies \boxed{x=0}
