2x^2 - 23x - 12 = 0
We will factorize it by splitting the mid term method, as
2x^2 + x - 24x - 12 = 0
=> x(2x + 1) - 12(2x - 1) = 0
=> (x-12) (2x+1) = 0
That means ,
Either (x-12) = 0 or 2x + 1 = 0
i.e. x = 12 or x = (-1/2).

2x^2 - 23x -12
In this question we 'll do middle term splitting.
So, multiply 12 and 2
12×2=24
So,
2x^2 -23x - 12
2x^2+ 24x-1x - 12
2x (x+12) -1 (x+12)
(x+12) (2x-1)
If u want the values of x then do it further:
(x+12) (2x-1) =0
(x+12)=0 ; (2x-1)=0
x= -12 ; 2x=1
; x=1/2

Therefore, x= -12 , 1/2

Hope it helps.....
