2x + y = 7 ...... (1)

x - 4y = 10....... (2)

multiply equation (2) by 2

2x - 8y = 20......(3)

subtracting equation (3) from (1)

0 + 9y = -13

y = -13/9

put the value of y in equation (1)

2x + y = 7

2x + (-13/9) = 7

2x - 13/9 = 7

2x = 7 + 13/9

2x = 76/9

x = 76/ 9x2

x = 38/9

coordinates are (38/2, -13/9)
