2 X + Y is equal to 5, 3 x minus Y is equal to 5 by substitution method

2x+y=5
3x-y=5
from eq 1 ...
x=(5-y)/3

substituting the value of x in equation 2
3x-y=5
3(5-y/3)-y=5
(15-3y)/3-y=5
15-6y/3=5
15-6y=15
-6y=0
y=6


x=5-6/3. =-1/3
