2 years ago a father was 6 times as old as his son . After 18 years he will become double the age of his son. Find the age of father?

Let the age of the father be x

Let the age of the son be y

From the information:

(x-2)=6(y-2) x-6y=-10

(x+18)=2(y+18) x-2y=18

Subtracting the equations -4y=-28

therefore y=7

Substituting in any of the above equations

x-14=18

x=32

Therefore the age of the father is 32
