Let the man's age be x and that of his son be y.
By the problem,
x-2 = 6(y-2)
or, x-6y = - 10>>>equation 1
x+18=2(y +18)
or, x - 2y = 18 >>>equation 2
On subtracting equation 1 from 2 we get,
-4y = -28
or, y = 7
Substituting the value of y in 1 we get,
X-6(7) = - 10
=>X = 32
Hence, the man is presently 32 years old while his son is 7.
