Heya !!!
Let the present age of dilip be X years and his son be Y years.
Before 2 years age of dilip = ( X-2) years.
Before 2 years age of his son = ( Y-2) years.
According to question,
( X -2) = 3 ( Y-2)
X - 2 = 3Y -6
X - 3Y = -6 +2
X - 3Y = -4 -------(1)
After 2 years dilip age = ( X+2) years
After 2 years age of his son = ( Y+2) years
According to question,
2( X +2) = 5 ( Y+2)
2X + 4 = 5Y + 10
2X -5Y = 10 -4
2X -5Y = 6 -------(2)
from equation (1) we get,
X - 3Y = -4
X = -4+3Y -------(3)
Putting the value of X in equation (2)
2X - 5Y = 6
2 × ( -4 + 3Y) -5Y = 6
-8 + 6Y -5Y = 6
Y = 6+8
Y = 14 years
Putting the value of Y in equation (3)
X = -4 + 3Y
X = -4 + 3 × 14 = -4 +42 = 38 years.
Age of dilip = X = 42 years
And,
Age of his son = Y = 14 years.
