2 years ago, suresh was 3 times as old as his son and 3 years hence twice his age will be equal to the5 times that of his son . Find their present ages?

Let the present age of Suresh be X year's and Present age of his son be Y years.

★ Before two years age of Suresh = ( X -2) years.

★Before two years age of His son = ( Y -2) years.

According to question,

★ Age of Suresh before two years = 3 ( Age of his son before two years )

X - 2 = 3 ( Y - 2)

X - 2 = 3Y - 6

X - 3Y = -6 + 2

X - 3Y = -4 -----------(1)

★ After three years age of Suresh = ( X +3) years

★After three years age of his son = ( Y +3) years

According to question,

★ 2(Age of Suresh after three years )= 5 ( Age of his son after three years )

2 ( X + 3) = 5 ( Y + 3)

2X + 6 = 5Y + 15

2X - 5Y = 15 - 6

2X - 5Y = 9 -----------(2)

From equation (1) we get,

X - 3Y = -4

X = ( -4 + 3Y ) --------(3)

Putting the value of X in equation (2)

2X - 5Y = 9

2 × ( -4 + 3Y ) - 5Y = 9

-8 + 6Y - 5Y = 9

Y = 9+8

Y = 17 years

Putting the value of Y in equation (3)

X = ( -4 + 3Y )

X = ( -4 + 3 × 17)

X = ( -4 +51)

X = 47 years

Hence,

Present age of Father is 47 years and present age of his son is 17 years.

Let age of son = x
And age of suresh = 3x

3 years hence,
age of son = x + 2 + 3 = (x + 5) years
age of suresh = 3x + 2 + 3 = (3x + 5) years

According to the question :

2 times of suresh's age = 5 times of son's age

=> 2(3x + 5) = 5(x + 5)

=> 6x + 10 = 5x + 25

=> 6x - 5x = 25 - 10

=> x = 15

Hence,
Present age of son = x + 2 = 15 + 2 = 17 years

Present age of suresh = 3x + 5 = 3(15) + 5 = 45 + 2= 47 years
