You are standing outside in the day time. If you suddenly enter a room
with very little light, you cannot see anything in the beginning. After
some time you can see the things in the room quite well. Why does
this happen?

Ans: When one enters a dim lit room from bright sunlight, it takes some time to see the objects, due to the fact that, in bright sunlight the pupil of our eye is small. So, when we enter the dim lit room, very little light enters our eye and we are unable to see properly.
