PUNE: A photography exhibition called ‘Bene Captus’, which means ‘well captured’, was organised by the Symbiosis School of Photography at the Raja Ravi Varma Art Gallery, Ghole Road. The exhibition had approximately 330 photographs by 98 students on display, a statement issued by the institute said.

The exhibition covered various types of photography including fine arts, food, fashion, portrait, product, event, sports and wildlife photography. Vishal Bhende, director of Symbiosis School of Photography, said in the statement that, "There are two types of photography — fine art and commercial. We equip students with knowledge of both".

Explaining the merits of reducing the number of assignments and letting students work on their own, Bhende said, “Assignments tend to become tedious and students do them just for the sake of passing. On the other hand, they work much harder when they take up projects and come up with concepts on their own.”

With an entire section dedicated to food photography, there is no lack of innovative ventures for photographers. The students also explored off-beat avenues such as industrial photography. Bhende acknowledges the value of such provisions saying, The students are asked to cover a number of professional events which helps them create an enviable portfolio, said the statement.
