Solution :-

→ Price of apples is increased by = 20% = 20/100 = 1/5 .

so,

→ Consumption of apples is decreased by = 1/(5 + 1) = 1/6 .

then,

→ (1/6) = 5 apples

→ 1 = 30 apples .

so, we can say that, initially he buy 30 apples at Rs.50 .

then,

→ Price of an apple = 50/30 = Rs.(5/3)

now,

→ Reduced price of an apple = (80 * 5)/(3 * 100) = (400/300) = Rs.(4/3) .

therefore,

→ Number of apples available at Rs.40 = 40/(4/3) = 40 * (3/4) = 30 apples .

Hence, same number of apples are available at Rs.40 now.
