  • Length of non-parallel sides is 6 cm and 12 cm respectively.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

  • Area of trapezium is 36 cm².
  • Height of trapezium is 4 cm.
  • Parallel sides are in ratio of 1:2 .

To find:-

  • Length of parallel sides.

Solution:-

We know,

Area of trapezium = (a + b)/2 × h

In which,

  • a and b are parallel sides of trapezium.
  • h is height of trapezium

Let, parallel sides be x and 2x.

Put the values,

➜ 36 = (x+2x)/2 × 4

➜ 36 = (3x/2) × 4

➜ 36 = 12x/2

➜ 36 × 2 = 12x

➜ 72 = 12x

➜ 72/12 = x

➜ 6 = x

Or, x = 6

Verification:-

➜ 36 = (x+2x)/2 × 4

  • Put x = 6

➜ 36 = (6+2×6)/2 × 4

➜ 36 = (6 + 12)/2 × 4

➜ 36 = (18/2) × 4

➜ 36 = 72/2

➜ 36 = 36

Hence, Verified.

x = 6

2x = 1 × 6 = 12

Therefore,

Length of non-parallel sides is 6 cm and 12 cm respectively.
