p(x)=x²+k(2x+k-1)+2

=>p(x)=x²+2kx+k²-k+2

there are real and equal roots

=> D=0

=>b²-4ac=0

=>(2k)²-4(1)(k²-k+2)=0

=>4k²-4k²+4k-8=0

=>4k-8=0

=>4k=8

=>k=8/4

=>k=2

hence the value of k is 2
