20 gm each of soil samples X , Y taken and 50 ml wateris poured in both. Water takes 8 min. to seep through sample X & 10 min. to seepthrough sample Y. Calculate the percolation rate of both soil Samples​

Sand has very little capacity to hold water as it has large particles and the nutrient amount is minimum.

Silt with medium particles in size retains a moderate amount of water.

Clay which has fine and small particles so it holds the good or maximum amount of water.

In X the water holding capacity is very less means it contains the highest amount of sand.

In Y a mixture of sand, silt and an appropriate amount of clay are present.

In Z clay is present in the highest amount so it holds the maximum amount of water.
