Heat is liberated when water is added to calcium oxide and hydrochloric acid is added to zine
pieces D. Vasantha Rani expressed that both the reactions are of same type. However, Sivamani
is of the opinion that they are not of same type. What is the basis for Sivamani's opinion ? Ex-
plain? Write the equations for the above reactions.

Vasantha Rani said both the reactions are same as they both are exothermic- release heat.

But Shivamani said both are different as their types are different.

CaO + H2O ➡️ Ca(OH)2 + heat

This reaction is a combination reaction.

2HCl + Zn ➡️ ZnCl2 + H2⬆️ + heat..

this reaction is a displacement reaction.
