Let's take a circle with centre O and radius OA = 10 cm .

The chord starts from 6 cm below the centre .

so , distance of OB from chord BA is 6 cm .

Length of AB = Pythagoras theorem for triangle AOB .

 \sf{\sqrt{{(10)^2}-{(6)^2}}} = \sf{AB} \\\\ \sf{\sqrt{100-36}} = \sf{AB} \\\\ \sf{\sqrt{64}} = AB \\\\ \sf{AB=8}

As we know , the perpendicular drawn from a chord bisects the chord , so , the total length of the chord is 16 cm .
