In an election between two candidates, 10% of the voters did not cast their vote. 10% of the votes
polled were found invalid. The successful candidate got 54% of the valid votes and won by a
majority of 1620 votes. Find the number of voters enrolled on the voters list.​

Answer:

If total number of listed votes=x

then ,

Total votes polled(90%)=x*90/100=0.9x

Valid votes among polled votes(90%)=0.9*90/100=0.81x

As succeeded candidate got 54% of the valid votes,

so defeated candidate got 46%

(0.81x*54/100) -(0.81*46/100)=1620

On solving, x=25000
