It is 13th century CE Sun temple at Konark at 36 km northeast from Puri on the coastline of Odisha, India. The temple is attributed to King Narasingha Deva l of the Eastern Ganga Dynasty about 1250 CE. It is dedicated to the Hindu Sun God Surya, what remains of temple complex has the appearance of 100 feet high chariot. It is a classic illustration of Odisha style architecture or Kalinga architecture. This temple was called black Pagoda because its great tower appeared black.
