Answer:

from ideal gas equation,

T

1

P

1

V

1

=

T

2

P

2

V

2

Here,

P

1

=1 atm

V

1

=293 ml

T

1

=293 K

P

2

=1 atm

V

2

=?

T

2

=273K

putting all the values, we get V

2

= 273 ml

Hence, option B is the correct answer.

Given:

volume of gas V₁ = 20ml

Temperature at NTP - T₁= 20°C

Pressure  at NTP-P₁ =  1 atm

Pressure P₂ = 2 atm

Temperature = 273°C

To Find: Volume at new conditions - V₂

Solution: According to the combined gas law, the ratio of the product of pressure and volume and the absolute temperature of a gas is equal to a constant. hence, all three laws- Boyle's Law, Charles' Law, and Gay-Lussac's Law are combined.

P₁V₁/T₁ =P₂V₂/T₂

1 × 20/20 = 2 × V₂/273

20/20 = V₂/136.5

 V₂ = 1 × 136.5

  V₂ = 136.5 ml
