Let, the total population be x

Given that : 20% of the population in town are females so the percentage of male population in town = 100-20 = 80%

According to the question :

x \times \frac{80}{100} = 72000 \\ \\ = > x = \frac{72000 \times 100}{80} = 90000

So, the total population of town will be 90000

Females in town = 90000-72000 = 18000

Answer:

Let the total population in town =

100x

Male population = 80x

Female population = 20x

So, total female population =(72000/80) x 20 72000/4 =18000
