20. Rahul and Rashi are twin brother and sister. When Rashi became eleven
years old, she developed a little swelling on her neck. She visited the doctor,
who started medication. After a few years Rahul also developed a slight
protrusion on his throat. He got worried and went to the doctor. But the doctor
assured him that it was a normal feature in boys while growing up. Justify the
reason for the difference in treatment.

Answer:

The change observed in the boy Rahul was surely a body change due to puberty or adolescence. In boys the protruding part is the larynx or the voice box which is so large in boys that it  looks like a swelling in the neck. This protruding part is called “Adam’s apple“.

But the swelling of Rashi‘s neck could be due to some other underlying diseases like hormone imbalance which lead to swelling of voice box or cancerous tissues.
