Given:

  • The ratio of no. of boys & girls = 8:7
  • No. of boys in class = 48

To find:

  • No. of girls in the class
  • Total no. of students in the class

Solution:

8x = 48

or

x = \frac{48}{8}

or

x = 6

(a) So, number of girls in the class = 7x = 7 × 6 = 42

(b) Total no. of students in the class = 48 + 42 = 90
