20. X says to Y, "I am twice as old as you were when
I was as old as you are." The sum of their present
ages is 63 years. Find the present age of X.

let, the age of X be a.

and ,Y be b.

now..ATQ;

a= 2b and, and their sum is a+ b =63

= a+b= 63

= 2b+b = 63

= 3b= 63

= b= 63/3= 21..

hence ,the age of Y is 21 ans X is 2× 21= 42ans...
