2000 candidates were supposed to take any test but 5% of them were absent. 60% of those who took the test passed. If the ratio of the candidates who have passed in the first, second and third sections is 1: 2: 3 then what is the number of candidates who have passed in each section

Step-by-step explanation:

Total = 2000

absent candidates = 5/100 ×2000

= 100

No. of candidates who took the test

= 2000 - 100

= 1900

no. of passed candidates = 60/100 ×1900

= 1140

ratios of 1st, 2nd and 3rd section

= 1 : 2 : 3

=> 1x + 2x + 3x = 1140

=> 6x = 1140

=> x = 1140/6

= 190

no. of candidates who passed in each section

= 190 × 1

= 190 ( section 1)

= 190 × 2

= 380 (section 2)

= 190 × 3

= 570 (section 3)
