Latent heat of fusion of ice = 334 joules per gram.

The two temperatures are as follows:

-20°C and 20°C

It means the Final temperature becomes 0.

This is because water and ice are the same compounds in different states.

The change in temperature for the water is :

20 - 0 = 20

The heat given by the water is :

Heat capacity of water = 4.186 joules per grams.

Heat = mass × change in temperature × heat capacity.

= 500 × 20 × 4.186 = 41860 joules

Heat required to melt 200g of ice is :

200 × 334 = 66800 Joules

This means not all the ice will melt.

The amount of ice that melts is given by :

334m = 41860

m = 41860/334 = 125.33 grams

The total mass of water is thus :

125.33 + 500 = 625.33g
